A Lantern

A Lantern

A lantern.

A light.

A fleck in the night.

Like a star

On a car

Of a train.

It rushes

And brushes

Along in the dark,

Growing

And slowing

In rain.

Shining,

The whining

The whir of the wheels,

Grind

And find

Their place.

A door,

Before,

Stands open, ajar,

To board?

To not board?

I pace.

The lantern.

The light.

Panes spattered with wet.

I jump.

A bump

And I’m on.

Or I stay.

Look away.

The train takes its tracks.

The lantern

Winks on

To the dawn.

  1. The lanter
    has its place
    As if it were
    A lonely figure

    But the lanter
    Can’t be lonely
    It stands to reason

    It brings light
    To an otherwise
    Dark place

I appreciate your of writing style. To try and do the same is the greatest form of honor.
