The Light of Sleep
I write despite the time of night,
And fight the light of sleep.
I write, and might, in dream tonight,
Find the flight to leap
A lap around the kite-filled sky
Phantasmic, black and deep,
Wherein the knightly stories hide
Awake within their keep.
But, by and by, by light of night
I dig them from the deep,
To save them for Tomorrow’s sight,
By fighting the light of sleep.
