Nature Outdone       


The air gone electric

Filled with the roar of the fans

Piling into the stands of this great

Modern Coliseum,

Where, in a few short moments,

The teams would take to the turf.

All awaiting a shifting of the earth

Beneath the sun-turned-spectator

As the crowd thundered.


Nature would not be outdone.


The wind shrieked down the canyon

Triumphant After


Triumphant After


Awakened in the morning by a blanketing of grey,

Though it blocked the sunshine, it could not block the day.

And when it tried to wash us out and sweep us all away,

It indeed, kept us inside, but we still chose to stay.

It tried to lull us off to sleep and strengthen its control,

Although the beck’ning blankets warmed, we withstood the pull.

And so as dusky colors came, and grey turned into black,

Twilight’s gentle dregs prevailed, the storm retreated back.

And we were left all safe and warm inside with lots of laughter,

Although the storm protested us, we stood triumphant after.
